"No, no. They probably ran off with their other siblings," Kale muttered, waving her hand dissmissivley. "Well, Des said she'd take care of them, so it's her problem now. I just have to figure out what I'm going to buy people now."
"No no, you don't want my friends in your house." Dakota said this in a very reassuring manner, shaking her head. "You won't have a house left when they leave."

"Well, I don't know how I can help, but if you need anything, just ask." The cat said, smiling sweetly.
"Well, YOU can stay as long as you'd like." Harle said, giggling.

Dakota smiled at her cousin, ruffling her hair with one hand as the other moved to open the door to the book store. The gentle jingle from the bell above the door seemed to overly obnoxious when compared to the silence of the dark, cramped store on the other side of the door. "Jesus, it's dark in here," Vinny muttered, rubbing at his eyes in an attempt to speed up the process of getting used to the change in lighting. "Mhmmm," Dakota mumbled, rubbing at her own eyes for a second. "Well, now time to find a book, I guess."
"Well...I dunno if you can help me out with anything I need," Kale muttered, rubbing at the back of her head and giving a nervous laugh. "I really suppose you don't know either Robin or Nikx very well... or Amos... damn it, forgot about him." She sighed, shaking her head. "This is going to be a pain."
At this very moment, it would be that Kale's kids were more than likely giving Des a run for her money - knocking things over, dissapearing behind appliances, closing themselves behind doors; and apparently someone had broken into the technology office and was playing with not only the store wide stereo system, but the lights in numerous parts of the store kept going on and off (not to mention the appliances).

Des stared in horror for a while, and in a daze walked over to a phone, pressed the intercom button and spoke throughout the store: "Maelstrom children, drop anything in your hands this second and SHUT IT!!!" She yelled, standing ontop of the cash register.
Harle only needed to take off her sunglasses to walk around. "Well.. What would Willow like?" She asked, tilting her head as she fingered the mysteries.
"If you tell me about them, I may be able to help." The cat said, grinning a cheshire cat grin.

"Well, it's hard to really tell anyone about them," Kale replied, rubbing the back of her head and chuckling softly.
"Probably anything that's four hundred pages or more." Dakota replied, looking over the titles. "Something that would make him think. So we need something confusing."
The kids paused for a moment, looking up at Des with raised eyebrows, before turning back to what it was they had been doing, apparently ignoring as whoever was working the music turned it up louder - disconnecting the phone lines.

Des thought a moment, and in her hand appeared a bag of cookies. The special cookies she gave only to good kids. She raised them up high, and gave a loud whistle. "Hey! Who's good enough to get a cookie from me?"
The cat smiled and thought a moment. "Let's see... I've heardd of them before. I know who Robin is, and I know Amos vaguely."
Harle held up a book entitled "the hardest Riddles Known to the World" and smiled. "This'll do, yes?"

"Yeah. Well, the only thing I can think to buy any of them is something sexual, and I would really rather not do that," She stated with a laugh, shaking her head.
A number of the kids paused, looking at Des, then back to the mayhem they were cause. Oooh, cookies or mayhem? Tough choice. Well, it appeared it would be one they wouldn't have to make.
The bag of cookies was ripped from Des' hand suddenly, though the figure that had done this was nowhere to be seen.

The cat giggled. "Same here." She said, and began to think. "Well, for Nikx... what about a picture of all his kids in a nice frame?"
Des sighed. "Boys and girls, EACH of you will get two bags of cookies if you will just cooperate!" Des told them, and smiled. "And I will specialize them to your liking!" Des looked at Edaniel. "Edaniel, if you like chocolate chip, I'll make you chocolate chip and Alice, if you like plain, I'll make it so!"
Harle ended up picking out two mysteries, three romance novels and the Riddle book. "Is this enough?" She asked, struggling with all six heavy books.

Dakota chuckled, offering to take some of the books from her cousin. "I'm sure that will be fine. Those should last him a while. Here," taking a few of the books from Harle and heading to the checkout. "Let's go pay for these and get lost, I think Vinny's going to have a heartattack from the lack of air in here."
Fathom was the first one to speak up, her hands on her hips. "We don't want cookies. We're having fun." "YEAH!" A bunch of the kids roared in reply, shoving Edaniel foreward. "You can take him, though, he's no fun."

Des thought a moment. "I'll get Gush if you misbehave more." She told them, grinning. "Y'know what he'll do, girlies? Oh, and not to mention the boys, too."
Harle smiled. "Thanks, I'll pay for this." She said, handing over a plastic card and dialing her pin into the machine.

Both Dakota and Vinny glared at the small plastic card as if it were a hell incarnate, and Dakota crossed her arms across her chest while looking at it. "Evil plastic card."
There was silence then, and the children turned to look at Des. "He can't get all of us!" One of them protested, crossing their arms over their chest. "I bet we could beat 'im up."

"You forget, my children." She said, laughing. "Gush has the ability to make clones of himself."
Harle raised an eyebrow as she picked up her new books. "Why's it evil?" She asked, blinking.

"Because, you don't have to pay. Well, not at this minute at least." Vinny replied, staring at it. "And only people who have money have them."
"Like he would do anything for you," Fathom replied, rolling her eyes. "He doesn't like you, remember? Besides, our mother would beat the shit out of him."

"And you also forget that he's my son and I have control over him when I need it." Des argued, rolling her eyes right back at Fathom. "And unless you dont' want two Gush's to a person, BEHAVE!!"
"Dakota should have money. She has an allowance from her father that he's upheld." Harle said, blinking. "He gives you twenty a day."

Dakota shrugged gently, glaring at Vinny. "The pigs usually use it to buy lunch. So, technically, I never have money. The use it all the minute I get it."
Fathom opened her mouth again to speak, though before she could even so much as think the words she wanted to say there were a number of hands covering her mouth. "SHUT UP ALREADY!" Clause and Patch shrieked, looking up at Des. The rest of the children sighed in obvious defeat, hanging their heads. "Fine."

"Harsh." Harle said, and smiled at Vinny. "Shall I ask Gush to give her a raise? You cant get that much on $20 anymore." she said jokingly.
Des smiled. "The cookies will be waiting at home, children but what I want you to do right now is you each have to pick out a tool for your father, and try not to pick the same one as someone else."

"Fiine," they all grumbled, shuffling off down the aisle in a dreary sort of manner now that their fun had been spoiled.
"No." Dakota replied simply, narrowing her eyes slightly. "I don't need my father's money. I can make money on my own, thanks very much," she stated, shrugging and turning to leave the shop. "C'mon. You should probably get those to your dad before the day's up."

"Actually, mom's locking me out of the house tonight." Harle said. "I have to teleport these to a friend's house for safe-keeping." Harle said as the books disappeared from her hands.
Des smiled proudly at them. "Good boys and girls, very good." she said and patted each one on the head as she passed them

The doors to the store opened suddenly as Kale peeked her head in, looking at all the destruction that had taken place. "hmm. Seems like things happened just as I predicted."
"Oh, is she?" Dakota blinked, pausing a moment. "Great, that means I have to stay with the scum bags. Joy." "HEY! You could always go home to your parents, ya know," Vinny replied, putting his hands on his hips. "...Why would I want to do that?"

Des smiled at Kale. "But I got it under control!" She said proudly, her tail wagging.
Harle laughed. "Dakota, you're staying with me." She said, giggling. "I'm sure Sasha wouldn't mind."
