Xenon stood at the end of the firing range, looking at the target at the opposite end. She sighed, and looked across to see a tall, skinny creature with four arms walk towards her. Xenon folded her arms and looked at the creature.
The creature looked Xenon up and down, before raising an eyebrow. It put on a pair of glasses and adjusted it's top hat. "I have good news." It told her, it's voice creepy and funny at the same time. "You'll be pleased to hear I am able to solve your... little problem."
Xenon nodded. "Not my problem." She corrected. "Just tell me what we're talking about now."
The creature pulled out a large pile of forms. "The operation is turning out to be quite... 'complicated', if you catch my drift."
Xenon growled quietly, and pulled out a huge wad of cash.
The creature nodded. "Oh, I see." He pulled out a final form, and slapped it on top of the pile. It simply said '$25,000'.
Xenon's eyes widened. "I can't pay that..."
The creature turned around. "Sorry to hear that... but I got a business to run here."
Xenon growled, and swung her arm, her large sleeve going around the creature's neck. She grabbed the end of the sleeve with her free hand and pulled him up close to her. "He needs this." Xenon reminded the creature. "To survive."
The creature nodded. "Well, that could be a problem, couldn't it?" before adding under his breath "For you."
Xenon released the creature. "How the hell am I paying for this?"
The creature shrugged. "You figure it out. You got five days. Then I'm leaving town."
Xenon sat down in the corner of the firing range, and stared at the forms, before burying her face in her sleeves, crying silently.
(Yay! I overcame writer's block! ^^)
