A woman, not a girl, a woman, was kneeling with the early morning sun to her back. She wore black ribbons entwined into two braids of her long brown hair. On her head was a black hat, with a silk veil instead of a net veil. She wore a black, simple, dress with long sleeves reaching her wrists, and a skirt that went down to her ankles. This woman was not mourning, not crying, just staring at a tombstone. Not being able to see the top half of her face, the woman also wore red lipstick.. or was it?
The woman had excellent posture as she knelt there, in the silence of the early morning, listening to morning doves coo their morning song.
Finally, she broke the silence by reading the tombstone.
""For every memory, a five tears are shed. I have lived so long.. yet I have not drowned myself. That, in itself, is a miracle." ~ Desdemona Marie Rennelds..." Now the woman let a tear drop, and she pulled the veil down even more, hanging her head. "Born in 1700, she's not died yet.." She muttered, letting out a sigh as the silence once again engulfed her thoughts.

Sion came and stood beside, her. He was quiet for a second, reading the tomb stone. An expression of confusion on his face. "You know her?"

The woman stood slowly, dusting away the dirt form her skirt. "Yes... I know her," The woman muttered, reaching under the veil to wipe tears away. "I am her closest friend. I live in the same room, love the same children, and the same man..." The woman nodded, sighing. "I even share her clothes."

"I dont understand" Sion said, shaking his head. "You sound as though you are her shadow, yet i have never seen you. How is this so?"

The woman turned her head to Sion, then to the ground, in thought. "You really don't know who I am..." She muttered, shaking her head.
Her head pivetted on her neck upward, toward the sky, and her veil was blown off her face by a breeze. This revealed two large green eyes, and long bangs emerging from under the hat which soon fell off before Des looked back to Sion. "I AM Des, Sion,"

"Another day, another time, maybe i would not have been so...blind." Sion said, he returned his eyes to the tombstone. "Maybe i dont understand your culture, but dont you build tombstones after they have past away?"

Des knew this question was comming, and she smirked. "Yes... yes we do." Des also looked to the tombstone. "But I did die, and a friend carved this tombstone." Des explained, then pointed to where the death date should be, and it was scratched out. "I was furious, so I scratched out my own death date."

"Yet you stand here before me" He tilted his head up. "How did you return?"

"It was sixteen years ago, Sion," Des said, still standing with great posture. Shoulders back but not strained. Her back straight, upright. Her bare feet together. "Sixteen years ago I awoke for the rest of my life. During my death I'd awaken for about a month or two, but really, I was dead."

"You defyed the immpossible, returned from where no one else could? How?" Sion asked, a little too eager for the answer.

Des blinked, but smirked. She shrugged, picking up her black sun hat and placed it on her head, the veil somehow gone. "I defy a lot of things, Sion. It's what I do."
There was a twinge of mischevous glare in her eyes, and a sly smirk. Did she really know? Or was she playing with his mind?

Sion was trying not to let his desperation shine through. "What about me? Could i come back?"

"I'm not so sure, Sion..." Des shook her head. "It's hard to decypher for other species besides Demons, and even Demons are hard to decypher. Demons that are from, or guard, the gates, if they die, they're dead for good. Demons from this world, if you die, you can be brougth back to life. Anyone can with simple magic." Des nodded her head, andraised a hand into the sky. When it had been cloudy, there was an area of blue sky now right above them.

Sion nodded, "I thought as much, im not sure if im even half-elf anymore..." Sion tapped a finger to his heart. "So much magic, has tainted me"
