Tenos put an arm around Pitter's shoulders, to try to help her calm down a bit. "What do you mean by that? Surely... you're not going to die without it, right?"

"That's what I've been trying to say." Pitter raised her head to him. "That half of the charm is healing, and thus I was born and raised on it and without it, I'll stop healing and son die!" Pitter told him. "Without that stone, I can bruise easily, and I won't be able to stop bleeding if I'm cut. My brother's half was the stone of death, which stopped him from killing others and supressed his strength. It was given to us by our mother when we were first born, and she charmed them herself." Pitter said and hugged Tenos.

Tenos thought. "Tell me... and this is just a long shot, but this isn't one of those sort of charms where if you put the two together you end up with unlimited power to enslave the world and kill everyone whilst never dying, is it?"

"Well... I dont' know. We never tried." Pitter said, sniffing and calming down a bit. "I wouldn't think that mother would really do such a thing - it's stupid." Pitter told him, looking at him confusedly. "I mean, who would want to kill everyone and never die? That's a lonely life there."

Tenos shrugged. "Why don't you ask Death? He's - or rather, she's more of an expert in that field than I am." He scratched his head though. "Still can't believe he did that, taking that girl's body like that. I mean, sheesh, he could at least have got a dragon or something big and powerful."

Pitter blinked. "Well, women can be scary." She muttered, trying to change the subject for her own personal wellbeing. "But - no. Maybe we should talk to mother and Death." Pitter said, taking a deep breath. "But, can you bring them here? I don't think I can make it upstairs."

Tenos shrugged. "I'll try, but it's not easy with Death. Death isn't really the kind of person that you can just call like that." He nodded. "I'll go upstairs and get your mother, though. Maybe Death'll be there." He nodded, pointing to the floating Katanas. "And don't worry, if anything tries to come near you, the Katanas will make sure that if they do, it'll be without half their limbs."

Pitter smirked. "Thanks." She said and gave him a quick hug.
Daray was upstairs, working on a cross-word puzzle, and tapping her pencil on her lips. "Hey, Death? If you're around," she called, "I need an 8 letter word for a torture device." She called, not looking away from her newspaper.
((Don't expect to find the answer - I made it up on the spot.))

Tenos nodded, hugging her back, before hurrying towards the elevator.
Death appeared , lying on the back of the couch - on the top of the vertical cushions. "8 letters? That depends, what letters have you got so far?"
Tenos arrived at the apartment seconds later, hammering on the door.

Daray chuckled. "None, it's the first word." She was startled by the hammering. "Alright, I'm comming." She muttered, and stood from her kitchen table, walking to the door and opening it. Looking at Tenos up and down she blinked. "Oh, hi Tenos. What's going on?" She asked him.

"No time to explain." He said, grabbing Daray's wrist. "Suffice to say that Pitter needs you downstairs - now." He looked over Daray's shoulder at Death. "You too, Death. Come on!" He said, dragging Daray into the elevator.
Death raised an eyebrow, summoning her scythe into her hand, and following the two into the elevator.
Tenos hastily explained the situation as they went down in the lift, ending it with. "And so Pitter told me to come and get you." as the elevator doors opened.

Daray, now informed, rushed into Pitter's apartment. "Pitter? Oh there you are!" She said and hugged Pitter tightly. "You say your charm is gone? And you don't know who did it?" Daray asked, and seemed worried now. Without receiving an answer for she was too quick on her feet, Daray began to search the rooms, picking things up and tossing them aside.

Tenos shook his head. "No, we do know who took it. Or rather, we have an extremely educated guess." He nodded. "She said herself it'd burn anyone who touches it - and only her and Patter knows about it."
Death pulled out and lit up a cigarette - one of many vices she'd always wanted to take up, but been unable to due to the lack of actual lungs. "I'd have to go with Patter as our prime suspect, then."

Daray came out of the kitchen and looked at Patter's room. She let out a skeptical laugh. "Yes, sure. He trashed his own room, knowing full well where Pitter hid her stone - right." Daray shook her head. "Couldn't have been him. And Pitter, did you say no ONE or no MAN knwe about it?"
"No man. No mortal being would know about it." Pitter said, shaking her head.
Daray nodded. "But to someone who's lived forever, that's a different story."

Death shrugged. "Well, that narrows it down by a lot - but the problem is, most of the people who live forever wouldn't really need or want something like that - they could just make it themselves."
Tenos thought. "So we're looking for an immortal person who hasn't got the power to make things out of thin air... I'm sure that will be easy to find."

Daray sighed. "I'll need my legendex." She muttered, "And my old diaries to help me remember where I found the stones." Daray crossed her arms. "And I need my son." She looked around the room. "And I think it's safe to ask Sarge to go and find him."

Death blew a puff of smoke out, and shrugged. "Or you could just ask me to go and get him. I've known where he was this whole time."
Tenos glared at Death. "You knew where Patter was, and you didn't say anything?!"
She shrugged, and blew a smoke ring into Tenos' face. "You never asked."

Pitter looked at Death. "But you KNEW that I wanted to see him again! You put me through this agony?" She yelled, appalled.
Daray raised her hands. "So be it, Death has her reasons!" Daray snapped. "Just go fetch him, and don't take no for an answer. He won't want to come back here."

Death shrugged. "Sorry, can't do that. There's rules 'n stuff. I can tell you where he is, but I can't get him for you."
Tenos growled. "Then where is he?"
Death pointed down at the floor. "In the car park, there is an old poster of the final Lord of the Rings film. Press the 'O' in 'of' and the wall will lift up, revealing an incredibly steep staircase. He's down there."

Daray rubbed her forehead. "Fine. Who will volunteer to go fetch him?" She looked about. Pitter would have, but her leg was out of shape. "Anyone? Cause I'm not fetching him without backup." Daray shook her head.
