A gentle ringing pierced the relative silence of the air outside the restaurant, forcing the owner of the device to answer the small cell phone, after all the low droning ring was rather obnoxious in comparison to the stillness and quiet around her. The thin pale hand gently flipped the top half of the phone up, stopping the noise and answering the call instantly. “Hello?”
What met her was the shrill shrieking of many voices competing for her immediate attention to whatever the problem at hand was. The girl’s face heated up slightly as she pulled the phone away from her ear a bit, letting the childish shrieks flittered off into the cool spring night air, disrupting the few people smoking cigarettes outside the restaurant. “Can’t it wait just a little bit? I’ll be home soon,” without even waiting for a response from the discordant voices Kale slammed the phone shut and shoved it into her jean pocket, a slightly difficult task seeing as the denim clung so close to her skin. Work clothes. Heh. Not much she could have done about them.
Groaning slightly, she pushed off the wall outside the restaurant and prepared herself for the walk back to her house on the other side of town.
"Heh, Hello Kale." Smirking, an action he was used to, in fact it was surprising that fine lines hadn’t been created around his mouth. His tan skin was as always and the blondeness of his hair was starting to retreat back to the old brown he had known. “Long time no see. So you’re working here now? And uh, why are the children shrieking? Oh, could it be the fact that they saw me lurking about?” His smirk slinked into a smile and he advanced a step. Realizing he might come off as trying to hurt her in any way he stepped back, “I’m not here…. To hurt you.”
Kale had frozen up a bit at the sound of the voice, pausing as her foot touched the ground, a freeze frame motion of walking foreward. Listening to what he had to say for a moment, she moved her head ever so slightly to the side to glance back over her shoulder at him. Opening her mouth to say something, she caught the instant reaction of cussing him out before it could have begun to ring in her vocal chords, and replaced it with something else. "Then why are you here? Well, not that you're not allowed in this city, obviously but... what are you up to here specifically? What, been stalking around the house latley?"
" I'm here to see you. I heard about you and Robin and such. Mmm. Making sure you're alright and everything, making sure the kids all are, and I also just wanted to tell you, I'm here to help you with them and the kids you had with Robin and such if you need me to be. I know they are a big hastle." He nodded and waited for a response. hestated what he was doing here. " You look nice in that uniform Kale. Heh."
Looking down at her tight fitted jeans and pale yellow tanktop she gave a small smile, twirling a lock of hair aimlessly. Her back was still turned to him, but she was quickly relaxing into general conversation mode. "Oh, well, thank you. And, I've been doing fine. Eating better, off my meds - more or less because Robin washed them down the drain," she stated, a bit disdainfully. "The kids are a hassle, but I manage. I think they'd love to see you again." She fell silent and smiled, turning to look at him. "And, thanks for the offer of help. You're really the only other person who knows how to raise the kids the right way. Robin and Des are a bit thick skulled when it comes to dealing wit them," Kale replied, jumping over the first thing he said, forgetting all about the fact he said he'd come to see her.
He smiled, "Thank you, That makes me feel pretty good actually. I hope they miss me, I'll feel horrible if they all hate me..." He twirled a lock of his own hair and then took a few steps forward, boots clicking against the ground. "Nice to actually get to see you again Kale, like you dont ven know. I've missed you a great deal, and reading that old book that i've almost gotton all of the pages in order hruts my heart and forced me to miss you more."
Kale paused a second, looking at him as if suddenly hurt herself. "You... have the book?" She questioned, her mind jumping backwards in time suddenly. After a second, she began to move from her frozen position, and looked up at him sadly. "Yeah... I can only imagine. It is really good to see you again, Nikx," She muttered out softly, letting her hand fall away from her hair and limply flop against her side. "I guess that...it must really be a pain to put that thing back together, huh?"
